On Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Project P.U.S.H conference presented by my friend CleRenda McGrady. The acronym stands for Purpose-Led, Unstoppable, Success-Bound and Hope-Filled. The symposiums are designed and created to equip and inspire women to boldly live beyond your limitations and achieve your God-given dreams and vision.
I had to leave early, due to Halloween parties at the boys school but I definitely left inspired and motivated to think better and fulfill a more purposeful way of life.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Purpose-Led topic. As a former wife and mother I think it is easy to lose yourself. Shortly after getting married, I found out I was pregnant. I was so busy taking care of my husband and preparing my first child that I did not realize that there was anything wrong. After Kaden came, I was consumed with being a mom, student and wife. Kaleb and Kasen came back to back and suddenly my life was my kids and husband. I’m sure many women can relate. I was his wife and their mom and that was my identity. I was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mom for many years, but I didn’t want that to be how I was defined.
I lost myself somewhere along the way. The only thing I had for myself where I was Alicia, was at school finishing my education. After the divorce, I spent a lot of time reflecting and my prayer partner said that I had a unique gift in helping people and should put it to use. But, just like we all do I kept it to myself. Fear came and kept me from doing anything, because I had been through more than most people my age and I had a lot of knowledge to share.
I eventually figured out my purpose and needed an outlet to share my story. I stared writing and journaling things that had happened to me or people I know, funny stories, and life as a single mom. I have received numerous calls from different individuals telling me how inspiring I was to them. I realized after about the 8th call that I needed to start my own blog and share some of my knowledge. Even if this inspires one person then it would all be worth it. I found my WHY in life. With everything that has happened over the years, I feel the need to share and help others by telling my story.
What I have learned is that your purpose is unique to you and allows you to use your gifts, talents, experiences, in a way to share who you are becoming and how you can influence or impact someone else’s life. That’s how my Blog came to fruition. I haven’t had the opportunity to blog as much as I would like, but I am doing the best I can. Life as a single working mom sure keeps me busy but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
In growing my faith I now know that God promises to show us the path we should take. Often times, our growth in life happens when circumstances seem to be the most uncertain. Perhaps a painful situation or something you’re passionate about may be God’s way of bringing purpose in your life. Those situations don’t have to define you, but it can refine you. God wants to see your character develop and mature into who he has called you to be.
Dr. Miles Monroe once said, “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, it’s life without a purpose.” Do you know your PURPOSE?
